What's the egg freezing calculator?
Can this tool really provide the answers you need?
The University of New South Wales has developed a personalised fertility calculator to help you understand your reproductive timeline, egg freezing options and provide realistic expectations if you’re considering a baby in the future.
Why this matters
Many women have not been given clear information about the limitations of egg freezing, how age affects fertility or how many eggs may be needed for a future pregnancy.
This UNSW-developed calculator translates complex fertility science into simple, personalised insights so you can make informed decisions earlier.
How it works

Your age is the biggest factor influencing egg quality and fertility potential.

Why fertility education matters
Fertility education matters because fertility begins to decline in the early 30s, yet many women are never given clear information about what this means for their future. In reality, many women need around 20–30 eggs frozen for a strong chance of pregnancy later on, but these numbers are rarely discussed.
Celery Health exists to close this information gap and provide women with clear, accessible insights so they can make informed decisions about their reproductive health
FAQs
UNSW researchers have created this calculator using established Australian IVF fertility research and probability models based on age and egg quality. While it provides a personalised estimate, results are not a guarantee and should be used as a guide alongside professional medical advice
There are MANY factors that influence fertility (get in touch if you’d like to know more about your own circumstance). However, for many considering egg freezing, our age is the most important factor as egg quality and quantity decline over time. Other factors such as hormone levels, overall health and reproductive history can also influence fertility.
The answer to this question varies greatly depending on age and how many children you’d like in the future. Women may need between 15-30 eggs for a strong chance of one child. Older age groups may require more eggs or multiple cycles to achieve similar outcomes. It’s important to realise the final answer is best discussed with a fertility specialist.
If you want more clarity, the next step is usually fertility testing and personalised assessment.
This includes baseline fertility bloods, AMH and other important factors that may influence your eggs as well as speaking with a fertility specialist to explore your options in more detail. Celery helps arrange this for you.
